Hawaii, part 1

On President's Day we headed off (minus 2 little boys) on our long awaited trip to Hawaii!!!
We spent the next 10 days with Chantell and Raymond on the island of Kauai.
We had so much fun.... the time flew by and I can honestly say that 10 days was not enough.
(Dakota would disagree with that)

Us, finally arriving after 10 hours of traveling...

Below is Chantell's bag, which of course was too heavy,
along with being too big in dimensions :-)

The first morning we got up bright and early to
watch the sunrise at the beach right by our condo.
Getting up and running on the trail along side the ocean
was one of my favorite parts of the trip...
but boy did the humidity and heat make it hard.

 these 2 creatures were everywhere...
especially the roosters, which became our permanent alarm clock.

A must have, was the shaved ice at a place called Hee Fat (don't mind my spelling)
They consisted of ice cream topped with shaved ice and then drizzled with melted vanilla ice cream.

We made the mistake of letting Scott and Ray get "Hawaiian Slings" on our first day.
For the next week they thought of nothing but spear fishing and where and how they could get big fish.
As soon as they rented the spears we had to go get butter and lemons
to season all of the fish they would be getting.
Sadly, on our last day we drank a lot of home made lemon aide. :-(

And of course the best part of every trip is all of the eating,
and Hawaii was no exception!
more to come...
