Skiing

A few weekends ago we took the boys and stayed in Park City for lots of skiing fun!!!

The first day we took the boys to Sundance and did the rope tow.
Even Bridger got in on the action.

He was super nervous at first, but was loving it by the end.

The next day we just took Dakota to the Canyons.

He is getting so good and it is so much fun to watch him ski.

I Love, Love, Love this holiday!!!!

I usually get the boys a stuffed (or "comfy") animal for Valentines.

This year I took them to Build a Bear and let them pick and build their own.

Dakota built Alvin the chipmunk and Bridger built Ruff the dog!

Yesterday was Dakota's Kindergarten Party and they got to wear hats and have an etiquette lesson. They then got to try out their skills while eating
heart shaped sandwiches and Love Potion!!!

The kids were all so cute and did great with their Thank You and No Thank You!

Bridger was super naughty at the party and Scott had to come pick him up :(

At one point this is how he was found on the playground!

We didn't quite have enough moms for the party
so Aunt Autumn was nice enough to come volunteer.

Dakota teacher said that she new right away that we were sisters because of our eyes....
I don't see it!

These are some strawberry cookies that I saw on pinterest and tried out...

they were super easy and super yummy.

Last night, Scott and I went out to our favorite restaurant "The Happy Sumo".

Sadly we didn't make a reservation and the Salt Lake one had a 2 hour wait and the Provo one had an hour wait and they were only seating at the bar. We called a few other places, but decided to just go to the Provo happy Sumo and wait and sit at the bar. Some how we totally lucked out and only had to wait about 20 minutes and were seated at a regular table!!!

Scott me this cute Fossil purse and I got him some new basket ball shoes!!!!

Such a fun day!

I just went through my phone and realized that I have the cutest pictures of this little boy,

With 2 crazy boys and a husband like Scott,

I guess that I should just plan on stitches being a part of our life.....

About 2 weeks ago Dakota and Bridger were wrestling in our family room when I heard a big bump and scream!!! I walked over and started giving my "see what happens when you guys mess around..." when I looked over and saw blood squirting from Dakota's head!!!

I hurried and pressed his blanket over it, and then tried to figure out what Bridger must of stabbed him with... I couldn't believe the amount of blood!!!

It ended up that he had fallen and hit his head on the corner of the rock fireplace.

I had been at work all day taking care of laboring patients,

so all that I could think to keep saying was "Take a Deep Breath"!

Obviously that takes care of everything.

After he finally stopped crying and the blood had stopped spraying, I went through our first aid kit (which was basically stripped clean) and put a abdominal pad on his head and wrapped it with an ace bandage. With blood all over his face and hair, the injury looked a lot worse than it was.

After a lot of convincing I took him over to the insta care where he got only 3 stitches and was so, so brave!!! We were the only ones there and he had a guy tech, nurse and doctor... who all treated him like he was the coolest boy in the world!

St. George Half Marathon

This past weekend we headed down to St. George to run another half marathon.
Scott's parents live down there during the winter so they helped out with the boys.
We ran this same race last year in perfect spring time weather....
this year we were welcomed with rain.
It ended up not being too bad and really didn't start down pouring until we finished.
My dad, Bobby and Rachel also ran with us......
and as shown in the pictures, Scott had a blast :-)
He really is a good sport and I love that he runs with me!!!!

Skiing

Last weekend we took Dakota skiing for the first time.
He was so excited and so nervous, but he ended up doing great!

My family was already up skiing at the Canyons, so my mom, Bridger and I rode the gondola up so that we could watch all of the action.

Me, Scott and the boys stayed that night at my parents condo and we had so much fun just relaxing and hanging out.

Dakota is so excited to go skiing again....
We were going to take him today because of the holiday,
but it ended up being a little to cold and windy :-(

Happy 3 Bridger!!!!

I can't believe that it has been three years since Bridger joined our family....

Chantell helped me make this cute cake!!!
Bridger spent the whole day trying to dump the cake out
so that he could play with the dump truck!

We also celebrated Matt's birthday (he turned the big 2.3. on December 30th)

Bridger got this really cute Mater Trike, which he has gotten a lot of practice on
thanks to the unreal, warm weather.

Bridger also started Preschool today.
Learning Dynamics has a mini 3 class that runs the same time that
Dakota has his Kindergarten Enhancement class.
2 hours, twice a week.... all to my self, whatever will I do????

I absolutely love date night nights with Scott!!!
That is why the ultimate New Years Eve activity includes dinner and a movie.
This year we had to make it a little early, because I had to work Sunday morning and our baby sitter had real New Years plans that started at 9 pm.
So we decided to go see the afternoon showing of Sherlock Holmes (loved it)
and dinner at Mi Ranchito!!!

When we got home we had a little party with the boys,
which Dakota insisted was dumb because we didn't invite anyone :-)
But I think that he still enjoyed staying up late.

2011 was a year of buisiness and lots of changes,
my wish for 2012 is that we can slow down and focus on what is important in life.

Merry Christmas

I am so sad that Christmas is over and now we have to wait
another 11 months to start over.

I really am like a little kid this time of year....
and this year did not disappoint.

The boys were so much fun...
especially Dakota who is just like his mom, loving every aspect of the season.
He was so cute to help me set everything out for Santa, and he could not have been more excited to wake up Christmas morning and see that Santa had come.
Bridger started out excited, but once he had a few Tractors and Dump Trucks,
he was ready to play and be done with the nonsense of opening presents.

When all the presents were opened I was surprised and the lack of fighting that occurred about going to church
(we did have to let them take a quick spin on their scooters in their church clothes).
I really liked the fact that going to church helped us stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas.... It is so hard with all of the buisiness to keep it in focus.

It really was a wonderful day,

Dakota thought of the idea to make the cookie plate look like a smiley face.

the little cheerios with chocolate chips were cookies for the elves.

Thanks to help from Chantell, I found these super cute Santa Bags,

Which were more for me than the boys, who I don't think even noticed....

but I loved them.

The boys got these light savers in there stockings, which have lead to many injuries since.

Everytime that Dakota saw Santa this year, he asked for more Trash Packs. I told him that he would probably just get a few in his stocking, but at the last minute I decided to get a whole bunch and put them in a big box.

After Dakota went through his stocking he didn't say anything, but as the presents ran out he started to get nervous and asked if I thought Santa forgot.

Some how it worked out that the Trash Packs were the last present he opened and he of course was so excited!!!!

Scott got me these UGG boots with built in socks and I absolutely loved them!!!

Even the Dogs got presents, which kept them quiet and busy all day long!

Every year Scott's mom dresses the grand kids up for a live nativity.
Even Scott's 16 year old nephew is expected to participate.
Maybe I am just biased,
but I thought that the shepherds stole the show.

1st Anual Patterson Progressive Dinner

Every year in December Scott's family has the tradition of doing a progressive dinner.
We do appetizers at one families house, salads at the next, then the main course and then we end with dessert at the last house.

Thanks to Bobby and Autumn getting married this past year, we finally were able to do our own progressive dinner, and it was so much fun (much to Hunter's surprise, who thought that it was dumb to do all of the driving.)
Just as fun as all of the eating, was seeing everyone's houses all done up for Christmas!

We started at Autumn's house were she had Chili's chips and salsa... and also some yummy spinach and artichoke dip that Matt's mom taught her to make.

Then off to Bobby's were they did soup.
Bobby and Rachel got a real tree this year (which is new to our family)
and I think that everyone thought it was pretty cool.

We had the main course at our house, and I did Turkey and Cranberry cersaunt sandwiches which turned out super yummy.

We ended the night at my mom's house for dessert and gingerbread houses
(which was taken very serious this year.)
Gingerbread houses are something that I really struggle with....
I always dream of making this amazing house,
but for some reason I can just never pull it off.
Dakota and Bridger get way into it, so it is always fun
despite my not so awesome house.

the Kindergarten Polar Express

On Dakota's Last day before the big Christmas Break, they had a
Polar Express day at school.
The best part for Dakota was wearing his pajamas... he hates getting dressed.
All of the kids rotated through the different kindergarten classess,
each representing a different part of the story....

1 room was the refreshment train,
1 room had them making snow flakes and then they had a snowball fight,
and our room was the bell room.

Needless to say, all of the kids had so much fun!

That same week Dakota also had his School Christmas Program.
I didn't get close enough to get any good pictures during the program, but Dakota looked so handsome and did such a good job!

Breakfast with Santa

Saturday morning me and Chantell took the boys to
"Breakfast with Santa" at Dear Lizzies. Anyone who has been there knows it is the cutest place ever, and this event was no exception.

Of course Bridger was extremely nervous around Santa, and wanted me to hold him while he told Santa that he wanted a dump truck and tractor.

They had it all set up so Santa would call them by name up to his lap. I asked Dakota how he knew everyone's name???? He said that he was just looking at the list that lady next to him had.
Dakota is certain that the real Santa is at the North Pole working on all of his toys.

Dakota is basically not capable of a normal smile....

Bridger spent the majority of the time feeding his cow and baby Tiger!

Karate

I decided to sign Dakota up for Karate.
He is always saying that he wants to do it and
I thought that it would be something fun to keep him busy.
Dakota absolutely loves it and asks everyday if it is a Karate Day.

On his second day he was tested and earned his white belt. After that he was given the chance to break a board. They showed him how to do it with the palm of his hand.... he decided to go all out and punched it with his fist!!! His poor little knuckles were sore,
but he could not have been prouder!

Santa

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving this year.
Scott's family came over and we had dinner at our house!!!
Normally this would be something that would stress me out to the max, but Scott's mom did the turkey which is the most stressful part. I was really excited to get to try out a big crowd at our new house, and everything turned out really nice. I was also really excited about setting up a super fancy table for the occasion. I had to mix a few different place settings to make enough for 12, but I think that it turned out really cute.

Scott and I started the morning out running the Turkey Trot 5K in American Fork, and then drove to about 4 different places to find some where to eat breakfast.
Seriously, no where was open!!!
We spent the rest of the day cooking and working on Christmas lights.

After dinner we just hung out and waited for the Black Friday/ Thursday to begin!!!
I was not at all excited to stay up all night, but it ended up being a lot of fun. Me and my mom started at Walmart at 10 pm and didn't return home until about 3:30 am. We tried to stay up so we could leave again at 5, but ended up sleeping in until 7:30 and hit the stores again.
Did we get any real great deals and were worth the lack of sleep???
Probably not, but we had a lot of fun!

6 years ago today a little boy entered our lives and things were never the same!!!
Dakota is getting old, just ask him :-)

This year Dakota had a "Trash Pack" themed birthday....
Trashies are little rubber guys that are each based on a piece of trash. Dakota's favorite is named "Broken Bottle". He saw them on TV and has been obsessed ever since.

Sunday we had everyone over to celebrate. We made Dakota's favorite dinner... Cafe Rio. Dakota was in heaven with all of the presents, he of course was crazy spoiled by everyone.

Today I took him to Toys R Us so he couls spend the money that Scott's mom gave him.
What did he get???? Of course more Trash Packs.
We then went to Cafe Rio and stood in a huge line with Bridger running every where just so Dakota could get a side of Ranch and a side of tortillas.
Dakota thought that it was a perfect day!!!

Dinosaur Birthday !!!

Last Thursday Me, Chantell and Autumn took Dakota and a few of his friends
to the dinosaur museum for his birthday.

Thanksgivng Point does an awesome job with their parties.
It was so nice to have them do everything and we just showed up!
The kids got to go on a tour of the museum,
make fossils and then have cake in their cute party room.
It seemed like everyone had a great time... especially Dakota :-)

He loves it and has been drawing non-stop. Today he insisted that I take a picture of his turkey, and "blog" it to his kindergarten teacher :-)

Lately we have been having a routine visitor in our bed every morning...
very annoying!!!
The other morning I was making my bed to find a severed tag that must have been rubbed off earlier that morning. I showed it to Bridger and he was more that happy to carry the tag around and cuddle it up to his nose. Scott thinks that it is ridiculous... I think that it is pretty funny!

Park City

Last month we took the boys up to Park City to go on the Alpine Slide.
The slide was closed but we were able to ride on the Park City Coaster.
We had to lie and say that Bridger was 3,
but I figured that because he ways more than most 4 year olds....
he would be okay.
Of course both boys wanted to ride with Scott, but I finally convinced Dakota to ride with me.
The whole way up he kept telling me that he wanted to go so fast!!! After about one second of going full speed, he was screaming that he wanted to go home....
so we went so slow the rest of the way down.
The best part was how pretty all of the trees were. Fall is the best time to go to Park City!

Hunting and Camping

I am a little late in posting,
but like usual Scott spent a lot of time hunting this year,
particularly Elk Hunting.
Over Labor Day weekend, I took the boys and camped overnight with Scott!
The boys were so excited, especially Dakota who got to stay a little longer with dad.

On one of the last days of the hunt, Scott finally got his elk!
Even more exciting was the fact that Scott's dad was able to get an even bigger elk!
Health problems have made it so Jim can not be quite as aggressive with hunting as he used to be, so we were all so happy that he was able to get out this year and shoot such an awesome elk.
.... that was until I heard Scott telling him that it could hang on the wall at our house!!!

Autumn's Bachelorette Party!

Last month Autumn and Matt got married and their wedding was so much fun!

Her wedding really was an event.... we had stuff going every night leading up to the big day.

The night before her wedding all of the sisters took Autumn to the Cheesecake Factory

for one last night as a single lady!!

Matt's sisters are so much fun. We spent the whole night laughing,

mainly because me and Matt's older sister realized that we were going to be using the quote in our speaches the next day! Lucky for me, I got to go first :-)

Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween this year!
Opposed to last rainy, Halloween, the weather was beautiful, and the boys are at an age where they can really get into the holiday.

For the Halloween Party and my mom's house, Scott and I were Angry Birds!!!
Fun, but the beaks really got in the way.

On Sunday we had my family over for dinner, and I decided to get festive with my cooking. Chantell helped me find these pizza ideas on pintrest and they ended up turning out so cute.
To make the Frankenstein pizza, I just dyed the cheese green. I thought that everyone would love it, but most of my brothers were hesitant to eat green cheese.

I also made some really yummy apple cider in the crock pot. I told Dakota that it was a Witch's Brew, and he had so much fun adding all of the ingredients and waiting for it to bubble!
For example, the cinnamon sticks were actually skeleton bones... super scary :)

For some crazy reason, I agreed to be one of the room mom's for Dakota's class this year... and of course me and the other room mom were in charge of the Halloween party.
It turned out good and all of the kids had so much fun, plus I think that Dakota really liked having his mom there.

Our old ward always did a truck or treat, so we have never really been too serious about trick or treating, but our new neighborhood is all about it.
Dakota was so excited, and asked all day when we could start.

Once we got going, Scott decided to join us instead of handing out treats... After we were about a block away I asked him if he thought one of us should go back to hand out treats?
He said we were covered, because he just left the basket on the porch!!!
I of course was so mad, and needless to say,
by the time I got home the basket did not have one item in it.
I told Scott that he needed to explain to each trick or treater why they were getting hard, old taffy!
Oh well, lesson learned!

The boys loved trick r treating this year. They seriously ran from house to house. Unfortunately for Scott, Bridger got tired about half way through and wanted to be carried from house to house!

We ended the night by going to dinner at Kneaders!
What a fun day...

Halloween Half Marathon

This morning Scott and I ran the Halloween Half Marathon. I love this race!
It started up above Sundance and ended by the Riverwoods, so it was a lot of down hill. This is really nice while you are running, but crazy painful after. I hardly ever get sore and today I feel like I can hardly walk! My dad, Rachel and Maggie also ran with us.
This was Rachel's 1st half marathon, and she did awesome.
The best part of the race was that Matt and Autumn drove us up to the start. We didn't have to get up too early and we got to sit in a nice warm car until the race started.
Definitely the way to go!

Island Park, ID

Last weekend we headed up to Island Park for Fall Break!
The Morales Family came with us and we all had so much fun. As you can imagine, it was constant craziness with 4 boys running around,
but we did get some grown up time in and played a few games.
We spent one day in Yellow Stone. Ray's step dad is a ranger there so he was able to tell us where to go to see the most animals. Like usual, we mostly just saw Elk and Buffalo!
The weather ended up being really nice too, chilly, but no snow or rain!

As per tradition, we stopped at Big Judd's and shared a dinner plate sized hamburger.

After having my car for a year, we finally pulled out the head phones. It was so nice not to have to listen their movies the entire trip.

Scott and Raymond did a little bit of fishing, but only caught one fish. The boys didn't care and spent most of the time collecting sticks and throwing things into the river.

My favorite Place in Yellow Stone is Mammoth. They almost always have herds of Elk. We had so much fun watching the Males run around trying to guard all of their females.

Bear World!!!

On our way to Island Park we stopped at Bear Wold!
It really is the best way to see all the animals that you can see in Yellow Stone up close and all at once. Driving through the bears was awesome, but I think that the boys especially loved the petting zoo part. There are also a few rides with absolutely no lines!!! Perfect for anxious little boys.

Pumpkin Carving,

Last night for family night we carved pumpkins with Chantell and Ray and the boys.
I am not a huge fan of carving pumpkins... it is just so messy,
but Dakota is obsessed!!! He did everything him self and insisted on cutting his own faces out.
The pumpkins turned out super scary looking!!!! I especially liked the white ghost pumpkin.

On Tuesday Dakota started Kindergarten!!!!
He was so excited and not at all nervous.

Dakota told me that his favorite part is recess and
playing checkers with the little girl that sits next to him.

He is getting so big, I can't believe it....

Bugs

My boys have an obsession with bugs.... especially Praying Mantises.
Dakota is always looking for them, so imagine his sadness when Bridger came into the house smiling from ear to ear with his latest find....

Our little friend started coming everywhere with us,
friends houses,
stores...
EVERYWHERE!!!

He was also the center of all fights and had to stay in Bridger's room for naps and then be sneaked out so Dakota could have his turn.

Sadly after being held constantly and also being left in the car in 100 degree weather,
"Mantis" died....
The fighting on the other hand continued over his little dead body and who could hold it!

7 years down... an eternity to go!

Last Friday was mine and Scott's 7th anniversary. 7 years sounds so so long!!!!
We were planing to runn the Moonlight Mapleton half marathon, but Scott's toe put an end to that.....
Instead we celebrated by going up to the Gate Way for dinner and then to the Melting Pot for dessert. My mom took the boys for the night, so Saturday morning we got up and road biked up to Tibble Fork. I love doing stuff like that together.
After 7 years of marriage there is no one else that I would rather hang out with!

Big Toe vs. Man Hole Cover

Last week Scott came home from work in the middle of the day and said that he needed a bandaid. I asked what for and he said that he smashed his toe. No big deal.

Later that night I was driving up to my parents and saw Scott's truck at the Insta Care. When I went in I found Scott with his smashed toe, broken in 3 places. It ended up that he dropped a an hole cover on it in a subdivision that he was inspecting.

Now he gets to wear an awesome boot and he got out of running a half marathon with me on Friday which seemed to please him..... but it is definately going to put a damper on his hunting season, which pleases me (just a little).

Overnight with DAD

While I was running my race this weekend, Scott took the boys on an overnight camp out.
Scott woke everyone up at about 6 am to go set up his spotting cameras and the boys didn't even complain. Scott just wrapped a blanket around the three of them and headed up the mountain.
They all had a great time and I enjoyed my little break!!!

AF Canyon & Timp Half Marathon

Last month Scott and I ran the AF Canyon Half Marathon. It was so much fun and course was super easy!!! We did it in our best time by far.

When I heard about the Timpanogos Half and that it was the same course I just had to do it. So yesterday morning my dad and I ran the Timp Half. It was pretty cloudy and humid which is not the best for running, but we still had a lot of fun.

I know that a lot of people would say that it is crazy to call running fun.... but I love the feeling that you have after you finish. Plus, then I feel like I can just eat what ever I want that day and nothing is better than a guilt free cupcake. :)

SCOTT will be 30!!!!

that is right.....
last weekend Scott turned 29, wholly cow!
To celebrate just him and I went camping and hiking to set up his scouting cameras. It ended up being a huge ordeal because there was so much snow still in the mountains (not typical for July).

After we got home, we finished off the day with taking Dakota to go see Transformers 3.
I was already prepared for how long it was... so I was actually surprised that I liked it!
It did help that Patrick Dempsey played one of the bad guys :)

Scott said it was the perfect Birthday for him because it was low key,
he can bet that his next one will entail a big party to say goodbye to his 20's!

There was seriously so much SNOW!!!!

The other day we were standing in line at Smith's and Dakota insisted that I take his picture next to this M&M..... next thing I knew Bridger wanted out of the cart to join in.
I probably looked like a weirdo taking my kids picture like we were at Disneyland, but oh well.

Disney Land !!!

I can't believe that I am just barely getting around to posting these pictures,
but better late than never I guess....
The first week in June my entire family (minus Bridger) went and spent the week at Disney Land!
We stayed at the Disney land hotel and did nothing but rides for 4 days strait!
This was Dakota's first experience with Disney Land and I would have to say that he had a love/ hate relationship with it. The first ride that we took him on was Space Mountain. He was so excited and jumped right on! After words he seemed a little bit nervous and said that it was dumb. The next ride we went on was Tower of Terror and it was all over from there. He basically spent the rest of the the trip asking repeatedly if the ride was going to fall, or if it was dark. He cried hysterically through the Haunted Mansion.... but he did enjoy all of the more child friendly rides and talks constantly that he wishes we could go back!

bow and "eanows" & the new house....

These days, it seems like our life has been completely focused on
planning and building our new house.
Scott has been doing a lot of work himself and has been spending every night and weekend there. It feels like when he was in school and gone all of the time.
Dakota has not minded at all. He loves going over to the house with Scott and wants to be there with him every minute. During the day he even makes me drive over there to make sure that Scott is not secretly working without him :)

We love the area that we are moving to, especially Scott and the boys...
the other night we went over and shot bow arrows in the back yard.
Scott loves how much open space there is,
Finally.... no more angry neighbor calls that Scott has shot a hole in their fence!!!!
For some reason, Dakota can not remember that they are called arrows....
her instead refers to them and his bow and eanows...
Bridger is going to be just like Dakota, he loves shooting with his dad.

Utah Valley Half Marathon

On Saturday we ran the Utah Valley Half Marathon for the second year in a row!!!!
This race is one of my favorites because it is all down hill... the down side is that you have to get up at 3:30 am to get bused up the canyon. :(

For this race I made the goal to finish in under 2 hours which is just over a 9 min/mile pace.
This meant two things.....
1- no bathroom stops
2- no talking
I had to be completely in the zone and watch my pace the whole race.

My final time....
1 hour, 59 minutes and 51 seconds!!!!!

Autumn and Matt (who just got engaged) also ran with us.
After every race, Autumn claims that it will be her last.... this one was no different! :)

Memorial Day Weekend

Last weekend while it was raining at home we got to go stay at a cabin in Fairview.
It was still a little bit chilly, but the boys didn't seem to mind.
They went golfing, played on the slip and slide and spent most of their time playing in an old tree house/ swing set that was behind the cabin.
This lead to about a million needed band aids and constant complaining about slivers :(
Best of all....
we just got to hang out and relax!!!!

One night last week after the boys got out of the bath they were running around the house naked with Dakota claiming that they were the "Naked Boys"!

In fear that Bridger was going to pee on the couch, I told them that they had to get dressed. Next thing I know they came running out of Dakota's room with underwear on yelling that they were "Underwear Boys"!!!

Krispy Kreme

At Dakota's request,
last week I took the boys to Krispy Kreme.
The boys love to go and watch them make the doughnuts and at 11 on a week day morning the place is usually empty so the boys just run around and eat doughnuts.
It is the perfect outing before Bridger's nap time.

Mother's Day

Last week Dakota had his Mother's Day program at school.
He was so cute... he refused to sing me any of the songs that they had been working on before because he said it was a surprise.
Normally he never sings, and just sits there, but this time he, along with the rest of his class sang at the top of his lungs!!! I was so proud :)

I had to work Mother's Day weekend, but when I got home from work I found these beautiful roses and a jewelry box that Dakota had made for me.

My mom got me these flowers for my front porch...
hopefully I can keep them alive and well all through the summer.

Tee Ball

This year Dakota started playing tee-ball with other kids in our new neighborhood.
He is also lucky enough to have his dad for the head coach!!!! Scott was a little hesitant about doing it at first, but I think that he has really enjoyed it and Dakota loves that his dad is the coach!
They play 2 games a week and they consist mostly of Mad Chaos. My mom came to one of his games and said that she couldn't tell if it was baseball or football (because of all of the tackling taking place in the out field):) Every time the ball is hit, every kid on the entire team runs for the ball. Sometimes even kids that are supposed to be running the bases leave and run to the ball. It is entertaining to say the least!

Las Vegas

This past weekend Scott and I headed off to Las Vegas with Chantell and Raymond for a little getaway. We went to see John Mayer and Keith Urban and just to have a break from the kids. Our trip basically consisted of two things......
Eating & Laughing,
and we did those non-stop for 3 days.

The eating really was insane!!!! No matter where you go.... the portions are huge. Then throw a couple of buffets in the mix and hello insane amounts of weight gained.
I felt so much better being home yesterday and back to eating normal.

The frozen hot chocolates was also amazing.

We stayed at the Trump hotel and spent one day just laying out by the pool.
it was a little windy, but still really hot.

One night we went to the Buffet at the Wynn and I don't think that Ray and Scott's stomach will ever recover to normal size. They just kept eating and eating and eating. The crab legs were my personal favorite.

The concert was so much fun!!! Our seats were pretty good, and I could have had some awesome pictures, but while going through security I was informed that my camera lens was too big and I had to check it at the front desk. :(
We had so much fun, it was hard to come home.....
but I missed Dakota and Bridger and was excited to see them,
even though they didn't seem to miss us at all!

I can't believe that it is the middle of April and this is only my second post for the month!!!
It seems like we are always super busy, just not taking pictures I guess.

I took these cute pictures of the boys and Scott blowing bubbles during Bridger's learning box time. Bridger's speech therapist from Kid's on the Move gave me the idea to put together a box of activities for Him to do that will initiate speech. Much to my surprise it has worked really well. He has added some new words to his vocabulary like ... box, pop, book, crash, beep beep. Plus he really loves getting the box down and working on the activities. Even Dakota is always asking if he can play in the box.

For the last couple weeks, every morning around 4:30 am we get a little visitor in our bed.
Lucky for me Bridger always climbs in on Scott's side and I don't even notice that he is there...
it is also lucky for Bridger because I would quick him out!!!!

The last few nights we have had two other visitors in our bed...
a lego guy & a stuffed Iguana.
He doesn't ever do anything with them during the day, but for some reason he loves them at night and has to bring them into our bed!!!

Oh well, as long as the 3 of them continue to go to Scott's side of the bed :)

Today poor little (actually big) Bridger had the bar stool slip out from under him,
leading to him hitting his forehead on the counter and then on the tile.
These pictures do not do it justice... it immediately swelled into the biggest goose egg I have ever seen. Luckily he is a tough boy and luckily he has his 2 fingers.

For some reason I have been really bad with blogging lately,
we just haven't been up to that much these past few weeks.
I feel like we are completely settled into our new house and I am actually enjoying that there really are not very many areas to clean. It seems like the whole house can be cleaned in about an hour. I am also loving living right by Dakota's school and Scott's work.
Somehow we are still working our new plans... hopefully we will be submitting them to the city next week, fingers crossed.

One side of our fence is only 4 feet tall, making it perfect height for our dogs to be able to see out at all times. Right around 2 pm all the kids start walking home from school leading to excessive barking on the dogs part, and excessive teasing on the kids part. I think that they all look forward to walking by the house with the 2 dogs popped over the fence.

Cancun

Last week my mom and I went to Cancun.... just the 2 of us.
We stayed at a resort right on the beach,
needless to say.... we had so much fun!

we went to a Dinner show all about the Mexican Culture

the beach was about a half mile from our room
so one day we rode bikes there and back.

Just laying out on the beach was my favorite part by far.
The resort had its own private beach that was beautiful.
They also had a restaurant and pool area right there too.

Not surprisingly, I got so incredibly sun burned.
Plus I kept putting on my sunscreen weird and having really strange burn marks.
I feet got it really bad.

While in Cancun we went to the Dolphin Discovery Center.
We thought that we were going to be getting in the water and just touching the dolphins,
little did we know we were going to be riding on them, kissing them and doing tricks with them!

I don't know why, but I was really intrigued with this Manatees.
This park is the only place in the whole world that you can get in the water with them.

Last week I was craving a change....

On Friday we turned over the keys to someone new

and left our cute house for the last time.

And it was so, so SAD!!!! :(

A few months ago, Scott & I decied that we would like to build again.... I know we are always moving :) We decided that after Christmas we would put our house up for sale, and if it was meant to be, then things would just work out. 3 days after we listed our house we showed it and 2 days after that we were under contract.

And here we are a month later, completely moved out!!! I really did love our house and miss everything about it.

I asked Dakota if he was going to miss our house.... he informed me

"No, it doesn't even have cool Legos"

News flash.... the new house won't have cool legos either!!!

We moved him into a bunk bed in the house that we are renting, and he thinks that it the coolest house in the whole world... he can't believe that we would even want to build a new one.

I on the other hand, am feeling a little bit cramped, but hopefully the weather will get good and and we can spend a lot of time outside!
For now I am just trying to look forward to this new adventure in our life and trying not to miss the old house,neighborhood and all of our friends!!!

I have the joy of being the Bear Scout Leader in our ward.
I have actually come to really love it & it is the perfect calling for me....
I get to have it at my house, den meetings are on Tues. afternoons, and Dakota gets to be involved.
Last week Scott helped me do a tool achievement.
Each of the boys got to make a tool box including Dakota...
it was basically the best day of this 5 year old's life :)

St. George Half Marathon

Friday we headed to St. George so that Scott and I could run in the
St. George Half Marathon.
Like always I was nervous for all kinds of reasons....
I didn't know the course,
I had no idea what the weather would be like,
I hadn't trained very well.... and Scott hadn't trained at all!
But it went great!
The weather was perfect... about 50 degrees,
& the course was a good mixture of up and down hill.
I got my best time ever...
in running lingo that would be me setting a "PR" (personal record) :)

We also had fun just hanging in St. George with
my dad & McKenzie and Scott's parents.
The boys spent a lot of time in the Hot Tub, running around and
eating about 1 million Popsicles!
(I am certain that Dakota's poop is now permanently bright green!)
We also went to Lunch with everyone at Cafe Rio and then to an
Animal Museum.

Everyone had fun on our short weekend trip!

Park City Tubing

On Saturday we took the boys and met up with my dad and brothers
at this tubing place at the top of Parley's Cannon.
We lucked out and it was really warm.
Dakota of course had so, so much fun.
Bridger was too little to go on the main runs.... they base it on age,
which in Bridger's case is kind of dumb, due to the fact that he was a lot bigger than a lot of the 3 and 4 years olds I saw!
So me and Scott just switched off playing with Bridger and
going down the runs with Dakota.
I was so surprised how fast you can go on some of the bigger runs. I was actually a little bit scared. Dakota just giggled the whole way down.

Before we headed home we took the boys to Cafe Rio.... Dakota is constantly begging for tortillas and ranch. It was probably our most successful restaurant outing ever with the boys. They must have been completely worn out, because we all just sat and ate in complete silence. It was awesome!

Party Time!!!

We celebrated Bridger's Birthday on Monday night.
Having a birthday right after Christmas makes thinking of a gift a little bit hard, but we decided on a kitchen.... a very manly looking kitchen I might add.
He loved it and also loved the Tickle Me Elmo that my mom got him.
He was most interested in the cupcakes and blowing out his candles....
I had to relight them at least 5 times while we sang happy birthday to him.

Yesterday for Bridger's "actual birthday",
we met friends for lunch at McDonalds,
and then while Dakota was at school just me and Bridger went to
the Dinosaur Museum.
It was so nice to be able to let him run around and not having my attention be spread between 2 kids.
When we picked Dakota up from school,
he asked why Bridger had a new dinosaur?
I told him that Bridger got to go on a date with mom for his birthday and when he has his again I will take him on a special date.
Dakota said, "that is weird mom, not say that again!!!"
Apparently, even at the age of 5, it is not cool to hang with mom :(

Jackson Hole, WY

Scott and I had so much fun last week in Jackson Hole,
it was hard to leave!
We were able to go skiing, on a sleigh ride, shopping, to the movies
and best of all...
just relax!!!!
It was a much needed and much enjoyed get away.

Scott went out for some hard core skiing in the morning and then came back to get me for the second half of the day. The mountains were huge and the snow was great!

I love these arches made out of antlers...
we have seen them before, but they were extra cool with the lights.

We stayed in these little cabins....

This exercise area was my favorite part of the hotel.
It was so much more fun to work out when you could just watch the snow fall.

We went on a sleigh ride through the Elk Refuge,
I have never seen so many bull elk before.
And because they are used to the sleighs, we were able to get really close.

Christmas 2010

I can't believe that Christmas is already over.....
it seemed like it came so quick this year!!!
According to Dakota, this was the
"Best Christmas Ever!"

Surprisingly Dakota was able to go to bed with out much effort and actually had to be woken up at 9 am! Once awake, he flew through the presents. Unwrapping was definitely the best part for Dakota. This worked out well because Bridger could care less about
the opening part and just wanted to play.

It is amazing how quick all the presents were opened.
Weeks of work over in a flash!!!
Because I had to work from noon to 6 pm, we had a nice relaxing morning at home together. After I was done with work, we headed up to my parents for more presents.
The best present for me and Scott is still yet to come.
We got each other a few things,
but our big present is 4 days in Jackson Hole....
just the 2 of us!

Here are a few pics from Christmas Morning....

Even though our big tree is up stairs,
we have always done Christmas morning down stairs.
There is more room and it just feels more cozy!

For Bridger we put together Dakota's old train table and got new tracks.
Scott and I spent hours gluing and drilling the tracks down to the table,
and I think that it was worth it.... it still looks great!

I just felt that Dakota needed to learn about and enjoy the giving aspect of Christmas.
I let him pick out a present for Bridger and wrap it. In return he got a present for Bridger.

Christmas Program

Dakota had his Preschool Christmas Program on Friday.

Last year I remember he just sat there and kind of bobbed his head.
This year he has been so excited about the program...
talking about it constantly and always singing the songs.
I thought for sure that this year he was going to be the star of the show!!!

Sadly.... instead of sitting there bobbing his head, this year he looked like at any minute he was going to burst into tears.
His teacher even had him move over by here because she thought he was crying.

But if you ask him, he was not sad and he sang all of the songs perfectly.
As long as he thought that it went great, I guess is all that really matters!

Santa & the Boys

I knew that there was no way that
Bridger was going to sit on Santa's lap this year...
he is just at that age, but I did not expect him to freak out about even going into the area where Santa was. I thought that he was going to tip the stroller over and bust out of there!
He finally settled on riding the rocking horse
about 3 feet in front of Santa, with a sucker.
He is already huge,
and being so far forward in the picture isn't really flattering for the poor boy.
It looks like it is a picture of Bridger....

I have to admit though, I was still pleased with the picture!

Last Saturday I finally got Scott to put up our Christmas lights!!!
I think that there is only one, real prerequisite for
marring into the Patterson Family....
how good are you at putting up Christmas Lights???
Lucky for Scott, he is really good at it:)

Until this year I have never really thought about how hard and scary doing lights on your roof can be. Scott always just jumps up there and does them. Then on Sunday a bunch of women in the ward were talking about how scary it is for their husbands and about how some won't even do them. My favorite was one husband that made his wife put a mattress under the roof just in case he fell. :)

For some reason Scott really wasn't too excited about doing our lights this year.
Maybe it is due to the many years of doing lights for my dad, but I guess I should feel lucky that our lights go up with out too much drama! They turned out great!

Anual Gingerbread House Decorating

It is a Patterson Family tradition every year get together

Everyone is very serious about their houses....
sadly, mine just hasn't been the same now that I have little helpers!

Noah's Baptism

On Saturday Noah got baptized.
It was really nice because he was the only one in my parents ward
so our family got to do the entire program.
Scott gave a talk on the Holy Ghost.
He compared it to Noah's blanket because it is a comforter.
I am not sure that Noah wanted everyone to know about his beloved blanket :)

Our Thanksgiving started with The Annual Turkey Trot....
and boy was it cold!!!
Like always, we still had fun and
it helps with the guilt of eating all of that food.

A couple of weeks ago my mom and me went to a
cooking class taught by the owner of the "Chefs Table".
It was all about making the perfect Thanksgiving dinner.
So this year me and my mom did the whole dinner completely from scratch.
I am going to put all of the recipes on theskilletsisters.blogspot.com My favorite part was the mashed potatoes and stuffing. The Cranberry and White Chocolate Bread Pudding was also super good, and not too terribly difficult.

The boys ended the day with a football game,
leaving Scott claiming that he had a dislocated RIB!!!

Putting up the Tree

Our Thanksgiving Weekend ended with putting up our Tree....
which at our house, I have to admit is a huge ordeal.
I am pretty crazy about how my tree looks and children wanting to help
is a little bit difficult for me....
but Dakota was so cute and ended up being a big help.
Bridger so far is content with turning the lights on and off and leaving the ornaments alone.

I have decided to put off getting out our downstairs tree...
I am just not sure that I can trust all the little hands that will tear it apart.
We will give it another week or so....

Last Sunday Bridger climbed out of his crib 3 times....

so we decided that it was time to take the front off

and make it into a toddler bed.

I was a little worried how bed time and nap time would go,

but so far.... so good!

5 Years Old!!!

Today is Dakota's 5th Birthday!!!!
Hard to believe that I have a 5 year old.... no longer a toddler in any way.

He was born the day before Thanksgiving, 3 weeks early.
He was 7lbs. 6 oz. and 20 inches long.... descent size for being early.
I remember that I hadn't felt very good and hadn't felt him move very much, so I stopped by the doctor's office on my way to school. My blood pressure ended up being too high so my doctor sent me over to the hospital to be induced.
After hearing his heart beat and knowing he was just fine, I remember being mad that I had even gone in because I really needed to take a test.
Dr. Lameroux told me that it was probably going to be a 48 hour induction.
That seemed crazy to me, but 2 days later,
almost 48 hours on the dot..... Dakota was born.

2 days after that, Scott and I left with a new baby, and I really was scared to death. I had no idea what to expect. Lucky for me Dakota was the best baby in the world. He seriously slept the whole 1st year of his life away. Even now, he would sleep in until 10 every morning if I let him.

Dakota has always been very independent and super stubborn. I think that is just part of being the oldest child. At the same time, he is also very loving and extremely sweet. He is always quick to say "thank you" and "I love you"!!!

Dakota is 110% all BOY!!!!
He loves hunting, camping, bugs, reptiles, sharks and pretty much all toys. Right now his big thing is Legos!!!I love it when he builds random things and then proudly shows me.
He is also really into letters!!! He is even starting to read and doing really well!!!

I could go on forever about Dakota.....
but really I just want to say that I am so glad that 5 years ago today, Dakota started our family!!!

Birthday Weekend: Part 2

Sunday we had my family and Scott's parents over
for another Birthday Celebration.
Dakota had the hardest time waiting until 4:00
and then having to eat dinner before opening presents.
He loved everything that he got and has basically been held up in his room playing ever since!!!

Dakota had his "Friend Party" on Saturday.
He wanted a Lego Birthday, but they don't sell any Lego party favors...
so we had to settle on a Army/ Lego Birthday.
We decided to go super simple with the party.
We started with all the kids building Lego's,
followed by popcorn and a Lego Movie,
ending with the breaking of the Pinata, Cupcakes.....
and most important, Presents!!!
I thought that the party was a success, at least as far as Dakota was concerned!

Hair Cut Drama....

After seeing our family pictures,
I came to the realization that Bridger's huge head
does not need 10 lbs of hair on it.
So today I took the boys to Cookie Cutters for the big cut!
Bridger has always been fine with getting his hair cut, but not today.....
I felt so bad for the poor guy that had to do it,

Collin Raye

Last night Scott and I went and saw Collin Raye at the Dessert Star Theater.
It was my perfect way to see a concert because
I hate standing and I love eating!!!!
I am a huge sucker for sappy love songs and I am pretty sure that is all Collin Raye does.....
so it was awesome!!!!!

Primary Program

Today was our ward's Primary Program.
Last year I remember being so stressed about how Dakota would do and if he would even be able to sit on the stand long enough to do his part.
This year he ran up to the stand when it was time and did awesome!!!
It didn't matter that all you could hear him say was "I obey Jesus". I knew that he really said "I obey Jesus by being nice" and just didn't stick around long enough to be heard!

Big Game hunting is finally over for the year....
Hip, Hip Hurray!!!
Wednesday night Scott returned home with this "Beauty" (as he refers to it),
I refer to it as "don't even bother getting that mounted"!!!! :)
Scott has been wanting to get a bigger deer since I have known him and he finally got one!
I really was excited for him, well at least as excited as I get about hunting....
and I think that it will look just amazing hanging on the wall in our garage!

Trunk-or-Treat!

The weather could have been a disaster for our wards Trunk or Treat....
But some how it all worked out, and the rain cleared for the perfect window of time.
The boys had so much fun... especially Bridger who looked so cute going from car to car.
He was also a dream in regards to his costume....
when Dakota was his age, I would have to sit on him to get his costume on
and then he would cry the whole time.
Bridger was constantly bringing his to me and wanting it on!!!
After the day was over, Dakota emptied all of Bridger's candy into his bag, and all of our left over candy.... so needless to say he has been chowing down constantly on candy ever since.

the Halloween Half Marathon!!!

Saturday morning my dad, Autumn, McKenzie, Maggie, Crystal and I all ran the Provo Halloween Half Marathon!!!!
This was my fourth and final one for the year.
It started up above Sundance and ended at the Riverwoods. It was perfect weather and so, so much fun.
For some reason all the down hill must have been really hard on my body because I am super sore today, but I still can't wait to do the next one.
